A Star Barbers: the comeback reel after a year off Instagram

Oct 10, 2026 · 2 min read
A Star cutting hair at the Nike-backed football event in London, a frame from the reel

A Star Barbers has around 1.3 million followers on Instagram, and for about a year he’d barely posted. The reel I edited was the one he came back with: A Star flying from Dubai to London to cut hair at a Nike-backed football event.

It got around 45K views, as the first real post after a year of quiet.

The ask

One branded reel from the London trip, built around a voice-over his team had already recorded. Cut to the story, not just to the music.

What made it hard

  • Three footage sources that didn’t match: HDR, rotated phone clips, 30 and 60 fps.
  • The voice-over came first. Every shot had to land on its line.
  • The transcript lied. The editing software skipped 2 seconds of clean speech in the middle of the voice-over. I caught it by checking the audio against the words, instead of cutting a hole in his sentence.
  • Taste calls from the client side. A stock Burj Khalifa image was called childish, so I drew a custom Dubai-to-London map instead.

What I built

  • His own on-camera line as the hook, then the voice-over takes over.
  • A big warped LONDON title with him cut out in front of it, landing on the word.
  • The crowd and the clippers kept under the voice, cut shot by shot so the sound stays with the picture.
  • A 1080p master sized for Instagram.

The reel is live on his page: watch it on Instagram.

Why it matters

A comeback post has one job: remind people why they followed you. You don’t do that with a highlight dump. You do it with a story that has a start, a trip and a landing, told in his voice.

Got a story that deserves better than a highlight dump? Book a call, or send one clip as a single short. If you’re in Dubai, the video editor in Dubai page covers how local work runs.
